Anti-Human MBL Monoclonal Antibody (clone 3E7), FITC, -10 mg (CAT#: CB-P509-K) Datasheet

Product Type
Antibody
Description
Mannose binding lectin (MBL) also known as mannose or mannan binding protein (MBP) is a member of the collectins group. MBL is an oligolectin that can recognize carbohydrates as mannose and N-acetylglucosamine on pathogens. MBL contains a recognition domain rich in cysteine, similar to collagen and carbohydrates. It forms a complex with C1r/C1, such as the serine protease MASP, which cleaves C4, C2, and C3 through proteolysis. MBL can activate the complement pathway independently of the classical and alternative complement activation pathways. The MBL-MASP pathway (more called the lectin pathway) is independent of antibodies and C1q. MBL exhibits complement-dependent antibacterial activity and directly acts as a conditioning agent, so it plays an important role in innate immunity. MBL is synthesized by liver cells and has been isolated from the liver or serum of various vertebrates.
