FcRn Binding Assay Services

The key factor in the efficacy of therapeutic antibodies is the serum half-life, which largely depends on the interaction between the antibody and the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). FcRn is a class I MHC molecule related to β-2-microglobulin, which prevents the degradation of IgG, thereby prolonging the half-life in vivo. The functions of FcRn include bidirectional IgG-mediated phagocytosis across cell membranes and enhancement of antigen presentation. The binding affinity of FcRn to IgG is negligible at physiological pH, and binding interactions can only occur after the early endosomes undergo endocytosis. The IgG/FcRn complex can then be returned to the cell surface. Therefore, evaluating and understanding the ability of antibody products to bind FcRn plays a pivotal role in the development of safe and effective molecules.
