The monoclonal antibody R63 reacts with the rat C5a receptor (CD88). Rat anaphylactoxin C5a is a 77-amino acid glycopeptide produced by the proteolysis of C5. It is one of the most effective chemical attractants for inflammation. It also interacts with two C5a receptors, C5aR and C5L2.-Most of the effects of C5a are mediated through C5aR. C5aR plays a key role in triggering acute inflammation. C5a receptors are seven transmembrane GTP binding protein couples Co-receptor belongs to the rhodopsin supergene family.
