Description
Glutathione is a tripeptide of glycine, glutamate and cysteine, and is one of the key antioxidants that protect cells from damage by reactive oxygen species. Glutathione (GSH) reduces the disulfide bonds in cytoplasmic proteins to cysteine, where it is converted to oxidized GSSG.
Creative Biolabs' GSH/GSSG Assay Kit is designed to accurately measure total, reduced and oxidized glutathione in biological samples using an enzymatic method using Ellman reagent (DTNB) and glutathione reductase (GR). DTNB reacts with reduced glutathione to form a yellow product. The rate of change of optical density measured at 412 nm is directly proportional to the concentration of glutathione in the sample. The kit can also measure oxidation (GSSG) by using a specific protocol that first removes all GSH with 1-methyl-2-vinylpyridinium triflate.
Features Sensitive and accurate. The linear detection range is 0.01-3 uM GSH equivalent, and the detection limit is 10 nM GSH equivalent.
