Annexin V-EGFP Apoptosis Kit (CAT#: CB-P032-K) Datasheet

The Annexin V-EGFP Apoptosis Detection Kit is based on the following observations: Most cell types transfer membrane phosphatidylserine (PS) from the inner surface of the plasma membrane to the cell surface soon after initiating apoptosis. Once on the cell surface, PS can be easily detected by staining with the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) fusion protein of Annexin V, which is a protein with a strong natural affinity for PS. The one-step dyeing process only takes 10 minutes. In addition, the assay can be performed directly on living cells. The detection results can be analyzed by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscope with FITC filter. EGFP is brighter than other fluorescent reagents and has higher light stability. When staining for annexin V-EGFP and PI at the same time, the kit can distinguish apoptosis and necrosis.

Figure: Detection of cell apoptosis with annexin V-EGFP. As shown in the figure, camptothecin (2µM) induced apoptosis in Jurkat cells at different times. The cells were collected and incubated with Annexin V-EGFP for 5 minutes according to the kit instructions. Analyze the results by flow cytometry.
