Product Type Antibody
Description The polyclonal antibody reacts with rat C3. Complement factor C3 is composed of α chain and β chain. C3 is the core factor of the complement cascade. It is the key to the alternative pathway leading to the C3 convertase C3bBb. The classic lectin-activated pathway combined with mannose leads to the C3 convertase C4b2a. These invertases cleave C3 to produce C3a and C3b. Further degradation leads to the formation of alpha chain products C3d, C3g and C3c. C3 is an acute phase protein produced by a variety of tissues including kidney epithelial cells and liver cells.
