Cooperation Seeking Creative Biolabs is interested in collaborating with potential partners (include but not limit to major pharma or biotech firms) to further co-develop ADCC-enhanced Platelet-derived growth factor C antibody. For commercial partners interested in our ADCC-enhanced therapeutic antibodies, Creative Biolabs welcomes collaboration. Here are two ways for your choice, and please contact us for more details.
1) Collaborate with us and co-develop the programs from discovery phase to IND enabling. Costs will be shared.
2) Become a licensed candidate of our programs.
Looking forward to cooperating with you in the near future.

Official Name PDGFC

Full Name PDGFC; platelet derived growth factor C; SCDGF; FALLOTEIN; platelet-derived growth factor C; PDGF-C; VEGF-E; spinal cord-derived growth factor; secretory growth factor-like protein;

Background The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the platelet-derived growth factor family. The four members of this family are mitogenic factors for cells of mesenchymal origin and are characterized by a core motif of eight cysteines. This gene product appears to form only homodimers. It differs from the platelet-derived growth factor alpha and beta polypeptides in having an unusual N-terminal domain, the CUB domain. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2010]

Alternative Names platelet derived growth factor C

Gene ID 56034

Cellular Localization Plasma membrane, Extracellular region or secreted, Nucleus, Cytosol

Involvement in Disease Diseases associated with PDGFC include Milker's Nodule and Macular Degeneration, Age-Related, 1.

Related Pathways Its related pathways are Phospholipase D signaling pathway and Signaling by GPCR.

Function Growth factors that play an important role in embryonic development, cell proliferation, cell migration, survival and chemotaxis. A powerful chemotactic agent for cells of mitogen and mesenchymal origin. Necessary for normal bone formation during embryonic development, especially the normal development of the craniofacial skeleton and the normal development of the upper jaw. Required for normal skin morphology during embryonic development. It plays an important role in wound healing, and it seems to be involved in three stages: inflammation, proliferation and remodeling. It plays an important role in angiogenesis and blood vessel development. Participate in the process of fibrosis, in which mesenchymal fibroblasts transform into myofibroblasts and collagen deposition occurs. The CUB domain has mitotic activity in coronary artery smooth muscle cells, suggesting that its effect exceeds the incubation period for maintaining the PDGF domain. In the nucleus, PDGFC seems to have additional functions.

Post-translational modifications Proteolytic removal of the N-terminal CUB domain releasing the core domain is necessary for unmasking the receptor-binding epitopes of the core domain. Cleavage after basic residues in the hinge region (region connecting the CUB and growth factor domains) gives rise to the receptor-binding form. Cleaved by PLAT and PLG. Sumoylated with SUMO1. N-glycosylated.
