Function
Integrin alpha-8/beta-1 plays a role in the development of kidney and other organs by regulating the recruitment of mesenchymal cells to epithelial structures. It can recognize the R-G-D sequence in various ligands such as TNC, FN1, SPP1, TGFB1, TGFB3 and VTN. NPNT may be its functional ligand in renal development. The neuronal receptor of TNC, which mediates the interaction between cells and regulates the growth of sensory and motor neurons.
