Involvement in Disease
Diseases associated with TDRD3 include Fragile X Syndrome and Chromosome 22Q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, Distal.
Related Pathways
Its related pathways are Chromatin Regulation / Acetylation and Translational Control.
Function
Scaffolding protein specifically recognizes and binds proteins containing dimethyl larginine. In the nucleus, it acts as a co-activator: it recognizes and binds to the asymmetric dimethylation (H3R17me2a and H4R3me2a) of the core histone tail associated with transcriptional activation, and recruits proteins at these arginine methylation sites. In the cytoplasm, it may participate in the assembly and/or disassembly of mRNA stress particles, and regulate the translation of target mRNA by binding to the Arg/gly-rich motif (GAR) in the protein containing dimethyllarginine.
