Background
Secreted frizzled-related protein 4 (SFRP4) is a member of the SFRP family that contains a cysteine-rich domain homologous to the putative Wnt-binding site of Frizzled proteins. SFRPs act as soluble modulators of Wnt signaling. The expression of SFRP4 in ventricular myocardium correlates with apoptosis related gene expression.

Function
Soluble frizzled-related protein (sFRPS) directly interacts with Wnts to regulate Wnt signaling. They play a role in regulating cell growth and differentiation (through similarity) of specific cell types. SFRP4 plays a role in bone morphogenesis. It can also be used to regulate the shape and function of the adult uterus. It is also possible to increase apoptosis during ovulation by regulating the FZ1/FZ4/WNT4 signaling pathway (similarity). By specifically inhibiting sodium-dependent phosphate uptake, it has a phosphate effect.
