Anti-Mouse CD59a Monoclonal Antibody (clone 7A6), FITC, -0.5 mg (CAT#: CB-P387-AB) Datasheet

Product Type
Antibody
Description
Monoclonal antibody 7A6 (previously called mCD59.3) recognizes mouse CD59a, which is a potent inhibitor of the action of the complement membrane attack complex (MAC). CD59 regulates lytic C5b-9 by binding to C8 and preventing the expression of C8b Complex formation and function. CD59 is a small molecule (18-25 kDa), which is connected to the cell membrane through glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchoring. It contains 77 amino acids and an N-linked on Asn-18 Carbohydrate groups, analogs of CD59 can be found in all species with similar structures and sizes.
In contrast to all other species, mice have two genes encoding CD59a and CD59b proteins. The two molecules are 63% identical at the amino acid level and have all major structural features. CD59a is widely distributed on the endothelium, red blood cells, platelets and many other cell types of organs, and its distribution is similar to CD59 of other species. The expression of CD59b is limited to the germ cell components in the testis and mature sperm. Both CD59a and CD59b inhibit human and rodent complement with similar efficiency. CD59 may be related to rheumatoid arthritis, motor nerve damage in Guillain-Barré syndrome, and other diseases involving defects in the inhibition of complement activation in one's own tissues. In addition, CD59 may play an important role in eliminating the effects of complement attack on kidney disease. Its existence and protective effects have been confirmed on human kidney cells.
