Anti-Mouse C5 Polyclonal Antibody-100 µg (CAT#: CB-P266-AB) Datasheet

Product Type
Antibody
Description
C5 participates in the activation of protein pathways in the complement system, which is an important factor in innate immunity. The complement pathway can be divided into activation pathway and lysis pathway. The activation pathway leads to the cleavage of the fifth complement component C5 into C5a and C5b through C3. C5a induces smooth muscle contraction, increases vascular permeability, causes degranulation of mast cells and basophils, and releases lysosomal enzymes. In addition, C5a stimulates the directed migration of neutrophils, eosinophils, basophils and monocytes. Studies have shown that by inducing the synthesis of cytokines (such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and IL-8), the acute phase response of the liver and the overall immune response can be regulated. C5b initiates the assembly of the membrane attack complex (MAC) that mediates cell lysis.
