Cooperation Seeking

Creative Biolabs is interested in collaborating with potential partners (include but not limit to major pharma or biotech firms) to further co-develop ADCC-enhanced Matrix Metalloproteinase-12 antibody. For commercial partners interested in our ADCC-enhanced therapeutic antibodies, Creative Biolabs welcomes collaboration. Here are two ways for your choice, and please contact us for more details.
1) Collaborate with us and co-develop the programs from discovery phase to IND enabling. Costs will be shared.
2) Become a licensed candidate of our programs.
Looking forward to cooperating with you in the near future.
Official Name
MMP12
Full Name
matrix metallopeptidase 12 (macrophage elastase)
Background
Proteins of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) family are involved in the breakdown of extracellular matrix in normal physiological processes, such as embryonic development, reproduction, and tissue remodeling, as well as in disease processes, such as arthritis and metastasis. Most MMPs are secreted as inactive proproteins which are activated when cleaved by extracellular proteinases. It is thought that the protein encoded by this gene is cleaved at both ends to yield the active enzyme, but this processing has not been fully described. The enzyme degrades soluble and insoluble elastin. It may play a role in aneurysm formation and studies in mice suggest a role in the development of emphysema. The gene is part of a cluster of MMP genes which localize to chromosome 11q22.3.
Alternative Names
MMP12; matrix metallopeptidase 12 (macrophage elastase); ME; HME; MME; MMP-12; macrophage metalloelastase; matrix metalloproteinase 12 (macrophage elastase)

Involvement in Disease
Diseases associated with MMP12 include Pulmonary Emphysema and Dermatitis Herpetiformis.
Related Pathways
Its related pathways are Degradation of the extracellular matrix and TGF-beta Signaling Pathway (WikiPathways).
Function
May be involved in tissue damage and remodeling. Has significant elastoplastic activity. Large and small amino acids can be accepted at the P1' position, but leucine is preferred. Aromatic or hydrophobic residues are preferred for the P1 position, and small hydrophobic residues (preferably alanine) are preferred for the P3 position.
