Function
As a cytokine that activates T cells and NK cell growth factors, it enhances the lytic activity of NK/lymphocyte activated killer cells by resting PBMC, and stimulates the production of IFN-gamma. IL12B_HUMAN, P29460 and IL23A combine to form IL-23 interleukin, which is a heterodimeric cytokine that plays a role in innate immunity and adaptive immunity. IL-23 and IL-17 may constitute an acute response to surrounding tissue infection. IL-23 binds to the heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL12RB1 and IL23R, activates the Jak-Stat signaling cascade, stimulates memory instead of naive T cells, and promotes the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines. IL-23 induces autoimmune inflammation, so it may be the cause of autoimmune inflammatory diseases and may be important for tumor occurrence.

This product is an ADCC enhanced antibody produced by our Afuco™ platform. Recombinant monoclonal antibody to IL12+IL23. Briakinumab (ABT-874) is a human monoclonal antibody for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, and multiple sclerosis. As of 2011 drug development for psoriasis has been discontinued in the U.S. and Europe. Like ustekinumab, the antibody targets the interleukins 12 and 23.
