Anti-Human Pro SP-C Polyclonal Antibody-10 mg (CAT#: CB-P541-K) Datasheet

Product Type
Antibody
Description
The polyclonal antibody recognizes human surfactant protein C (SP-C). There are four surfactant-specific proteins, which are called Surfactant Protein A (SP-A), SP-B, SP-C and SP-D. SP-A and SP-D are hydrophilic surfactant proteins and are members of the collectin family. SP-B and SP-C are hydrophobic surfactant proteins, which may be the most suitable indicators of the evolutionary origin of surfactants. SP-C is a 4kD 34-35 amino acid peptide, which can be proteolyzed from 21kD precursor protein. SP-C begins in the early embryogenesis phase of lung formation, and SP-C transcripts are evenly detected in the epithelial cells lining the original airway. During lung development, SP-C expression decreases in cells in the proximal conductive part of the lung. Finally, SP-C is selectively expressed in type II epithelial cells of the alveoli. SP-C is secreted into the air to enhance the diffusion and stability of surfactant phospholipids in the alveoli. SP-C plays an important role in the diffusion and stabilization of the phospholipid membrane in the alveoli. SP-C is essential for mammalian breathing, so it is largely protected. The lack of SP-C and other surfactant components is related to respiratory distress syndrome (RDS) in premature infants and adults with respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Produce polyclonal antibodies against recombinant human pro-SP-C (AA 1-33) GST fusion protein. The polyclonal antibody cross-reacts with mouse SP-C.
