Function
The g-protein coupled receptor of glucagon plays a central role in regulating blood glucose levels and blood glucose homeostasis. Regulate the rate of liver glucose production by promoting glycogen hydrolysis and gluconeogenesis. Play an important role in regulating fasting response. Ligand binding causes conformational changes, triggers signals through guanine nucleotide binding protein (G protein), and modulates the activity of downstream effectors, such as adenylate cyclase. Promote the activation of adenylate cyclase. In addition, the phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system plays a role in signal transduction.
