Cooperation Seeking Creative Biolabs is interested in collaborating with potential partners (include but not limit to major pharma or biotech firms) to further co-develop ADCC-enhanced GAD65 antibody. For commercial partners interested in our ADCC-enhanced therapeutic antibodies, Creative Biolabs welcomes collaboration. Here are two ways for your choice, and please contact us for more details.
1) Collaborate with us and co-develop the programs from discovery phase to IND enabling. Costs will be shared.
2) Become a licensed candidate of our programs.
Looking forward to cooperating with you in the near future.

Official Name GAD2

Full Name frizzled class receptor 2

Background This gene encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. The enzyme encoded is responsible for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. A pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantibody and an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. This gene may also play a role in the stiff man syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode the same protein.

Alternative Names GAD2; glutamate decarboxylase 2 (pancreatic islets and brain, 65kDa); GAD65; glutamate decarboxylase 2; GAD-65; 65 kDa glutamic acid decarboxylase; Glutamate decarboxylase-2 (pancreas); glutamate decarboxylase 65 kDa isoform

Gene ID 2572

Cellular Localization Golgi apparatus, Plasma membrane, Cytosol

Involvement in Disease Diseases associated with GAD2 include Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndrome, Type Ii and Stiff-Person Syndrome.

Related Pathways Its related pathways are Neuroscience and Beta-alanine metabolism (TR).

Function Catalyzes the production of GABA.

Field of research Metabolism antibody; Neuroscience antibody

Post-translational modifications Phosphorylated; which does not affect kinetic parameters or subcellular location. Palmitoylated; which is required for presynaptic clustering.

Biologic Classification Protein Based Therapies
Monoclonal antibody (mAb)

Antibody Isotype IgG

Antibody Clone BioBet-901ZP

Description GAD65Ab are common in healthy individuals, but masked by epitope-specific anti-idiotypic antibody. GAD65Ab may have a pathogenic role in the disease process in patients with Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). GAD65Ab in SPS patients inhibit the enzyme's activity and result in a deficit in the major inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA, possibly causing clinical symptoms such as muscle spasms and stiffness.
