Cooperation Seeking

Creative Biolabs is interested in collaborating with potential partners (include but not limit to major pharma or biotech firms) to further co-develop ADCC-enhanced Apelin antibody. For commercial partners interested in our ADCC-enhanced therapeutic antibodies, Creative Biolabs welcomes collaboration. Here are two ways for your choice, and please contact us for more details.
1) Collaborate with us and co-develop the programs from discovery phase to IND enabling. Costs will be shared.
2) Become a licensed candidate of our programs.
Looking forward to cooperating with you in the near future.
Official Name
APLN
Full Name
apelin
Background
This gene encodes a peptide that functions as an endogenous ligand for the G protein coupled receptor APJ. The encoded protein is synthesized as a prepropeptide that is processed into biologically active C-terminal fragments. The peptide fragments activate different tissue specific signaling pathways that regulate diverse biological functions including fluid homeostasis, cardiovascular function and insulin secretion. This protein also functions as a coreceptor for the human immunodeficiency virus 1.
Alternative Names
APLN; apelin; APEL; XNPEP

Cellular Localization
Extracellular region or secreted
Involvement in Disease
Diseases associated with APLN include Severe Pre-Eclampsia and Heart Disease.
Related Pathways
Its related pathways are Signaling by GPCR and Apelin signaling pathway.
Function
1.Endogenous ligand for apelin receptor (APLNR). Drive the internalization of myelin receptors (through similarity). Apelin-36 is more difficult to separate from APLNR (based on similarity) than (pyroglu) apelin-13. Hormones are involved in regulating gastrulation and cardiac morphology (similarity) during the movement of cardiac precursor cells. It has an inhibitory effect on the cytokines produced when the T cell receptor/CD3 is cross-linked; therefore, oral apelin in colostrum and milk may modulate the neonatal immune response (similar). It plays a role in early coronary angiogenesis (similar). Mediates myocardial contractility in an erk1 /2-dependent manner (through similarity). By influencing the release of vasopressin and drinking behavior (through similarity), it may also play a role in the central control of fluid homeostasis. 2.(Microbial infection) Endogenous apelin receptor (APLNR) ligand against HIV-1 infection. Inhibits the entry of HIV-1 in cells co-expressing CD4 and APLNR. Compared with other synthetic apelin derivatives, apelin-36 has stronger inhibitory activity against HIV infection.
Post-translational modifications
Several active peptides may be produced by proteolytic processing of the peptide precursor.
